About Us

Origins

The E2e Project (E2e) was founded in January 2013 with a generous grant from The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The faculty directors saw an urgent need to understand the energy efficiency gap, and believe that a cross-university, cross-field center can make progress on this important issue.

Why do we call ourselves The E2e Project?:

  • Through energy efficiency we can reduce the energy required to power modern life, and metaphorically go from using a large amount of energy (“E”) to a small amount (“e”).
  • Our approach emphasizes end-to-end (E2e) feasibility and implementation. To solve the efficiency gap, we need to think about all segments of the value chain – from product design to customer use.
  • Our center brings together (that’s the 2) disciplines and methodological approaches that start with “e”: engineering, economics, evaluation, experimentation.
